Why r3 Began
Michael Alexander set up r3 Health, this is why:

Just before I came out to Portland from Scotland in 2007, I heard a BBC radio program where the interviewee was waxing lyrically about the benefits of infrared saunas and I felt strongly that I should listen to this as it was important. The interviewee said, “there were only two ways to rid the body of chemical toxin overload that gets stored in the fat at a cellular level, one through mother’s milk to her child and the other through sweating in an Infrared Sauna!
When I arrived in Portland I mentioned the radio article to Beata, , one of the founding members of Anisha on Hawthorne and my then fiancee. However we very quickly became very busy getting married, starting up the Garden Guest House on Hawthorne and totally remodeling a 1912 house on 44th Avenue. The Saunas were forgotten about.
After a year’s intense work, and just two weeks after the builders had completed and left our new home, I received a telephone call on Beata’s old cell phone number, a number that she had not used for work for about five years. A woman asked me if we had Infrared Saunas at Anisha? Although I had to say sorry there were not, a little light went on above my head and I said to my self, “OK, OK, I get the message!”
So I started to do some research and found that Infrared Saunas were very popular in Vancouver BC. Beata and I made a trip up there to investigate several clinics and suppliers and with serendipity were lead to one Randy Gomm and the result is r3Health.
N.B. It should be noted that as Infrared Saunas are becoming popular, there are units being sold that are substandard in materials, some infrared panels are poorly constructed and do not function at the correct wave length and some manufacturers use partical board which off gasses when hot! The saunas that r3 Health use are of the first quality and are independently tested for quality. If after you have experienced the saunas at r3 Health and you are interested in buying one for home use, we can put you in touch with the manufacturers that we buy from.
